Here’s a four page advertisement I did for All Sports Manufacturing Inc in Golf Car Advisor. I don't think I like Chaparral Pro in it, I think something thinner with more line width variation might have been better. Any feedback is appreciated.

Not that we can really tell from the size of the samples posted but knockout white text that is thin can prove problematic, even more so when it is to be printed in magazine.
From this size the leading the pack ad copy is a little difficult to read because of the contrasty background.
Is it rims and accessories for golf carts?

Thanks for the response! I think the text was large enough that the white wouldn't have been a problem even if it was a little thinner. Is there a better way to post pictures? Even the previews aren't this small and I realize you really can't see what's going on in the designs.
And yes, they sell golf cart lift kits and accessories.

Hi, this is looking good but there are too many fonts going on. To avoid the issue of the text being too thin, can you replace the serif font with the sans-serif? Unless there is a branding reason for using the serif? If there is no reason to use it then I would change it.

Are you talking about the second one? I wanted just the two fonts like I have in the first one, with serif body text for contrast, but for some reason my client insisted I change the font on the last part of the last two pages.

I think the serif needs to be removed on both. To me, it doesn't work. I think the rest of the design is working well, you just need to get the right fonts.

Since advertisers are intimately familiar with what they're advertising, they sometimes fail to realize that their target audience might be less familiar or completely ignorant of the product.
Perhaps that is not the case here; I'm definitely not the target audience. From just looking at the ads, though, I would be pretty much stumped as to what's being advertised.

I understand what you are saying and from a retail advertising standpoint, I agree. However, this is a wholesale advertisement for a magazine that is targeted directly at golf cart accessory retailers. They are already somewhat familiar with the industry and are buying products, but need to be coaxed into switching to or staying with this company.

1. You have a widow under New Retail Packaging.
2. Secondly Helvetica isn't boring if used right.
Even if your target audience knows the product. I still think it need some selling features.
Otherwise the layout is fairly solid.

Looks really well done to me. Nice work.
My only nit-pick is that "Heavy Duty Rear Springs" is too tight for my taste and would do well to have the leading increased.

Thank you for pointing that out. I probably never would have seen it otherwise. It's hard for me to catch widows because I use Ipsum for the layout and the body content doesn't usually go in until the end.1. You have a widow under New Retail Packaging.
I thought putting my sig in big blue Comic Sans would relay my sarcasm well enough...2. Secondly Helvetica isn't boring if used right.

Thanks for the feedback. Ya, I really don't like the shallow leading or the change in font either.Originally posted by ZHGD View PostLooks really well done to me. Nice work.
