I'm basing this off of Limelight font.

I'm calling it Pavilion. I love the "O". What do you guys think so far?

Nice work
The original P on the draft (above the logo) looked like the Phillies P in baseball. The final product looks good, I like it.

I like how you are working on paper first
I don't think the I needs the cut out of it, it seems a bit forced. It's also not as cohesive as the other letters because it doesn't have serifs on both sides like the other characters.
The slice out of the L seems like it is tacked on, maybe try incorporating it where the stem meets the bar similar to N, where it cuts at the intersection of the stroke and the stem.
Last thing: Be sure to exceed the baseline and cap-height a little on O's and S's, it will help them appear to be the same size as the rest of the characters. Similarly, but not as crucial, extending the apex of the A slightly above the cap-height and the vortex of the V slightly below the baseline. (sometimes you see this on N's and M's also)
keep up the good work.

I think that "V" may end up looking awkward with other pairings. Balance-wise it works when it's right next to the "A" because it avoids having two thick strokes right next to each other. The rest of the time I think it'll just end up looking backward.

good call, just make that V an alternate.Originally posted by Yossarian View PostI think that "V" may end up looking awkward with other pairings. This would look great as a masthead font. You may want to do an alternate with the cuts thickened up a bit for use at smaller sizes.

I think the cuts should be thicker. They will definitely start getting lost once the font gets much smaller. Is this going to be an all-caps font?

I like it as a display font. I think you'll need to draw it again to adjust for sizes below, say, 18 points.

Yes! Conceptualizing on paper always works best. A carpenter doesn't cut before measuring, a designer shouldn't jump into illustrator before sketching. Plus you can get ideas down faster on paper, that's what it's for.Originally posted by kemingMatters View PostI like how you are working on paper first

For the other questions, I am going to make lower case letters for this big display font. And I'm really glad you all are liking it!

Using a pencil and paper is the genesis of the designer. It is the roots from which we grow as designers. We cannot afford to not practice that skill, much less lose that foundation.

Looking great so far. This would look lovely as a display font in a glossy spread.
Once thing I noticed on the 'O' - its a bit thick to the left. Try and make it uniform with the other thicknesses.
I think when you;re using opentype, you can set up different glyph combinations. So the 'V' would appear a certain way when it's next to an 'A', but another way in all other cases. So you would actually draw two different versions of the 'V'.Originally posted by Sir Aydreeuhn View PostHow would make an alternate V?
You see this a lot with ligatures - combos like 'ffi' and so on will appear differently in an opentype font.
Don't forget to do numbers and punctuation too! Hate getting a lovely font without a question mark or something.Originally posted by Sir Aydreeuhn View PostFor the other questions, I am going to make lower case letters for this big display font. And I'm really glad you all are liking it!

Here is another font I am working on. Although it is going to be more difficult. It's a script font and there are so many components to those...

Commented to New engine and layout on Graphic Design ForumI can see it too.
I approved the last one but I'm going to leave it. Since we've both mentioned mentioned the GY this should be deleted unapproved.

Commented to Graphics tabletForgive me for not mentioning this sooner! The Huion pressure sensitivity is 2048 (compared to Bamboo Splash's 1024). And it is also 4000LPI. I, too, enjoy the sensitivity of things.
