  • Baby Candle Topper/Sticker Design

    Hello all,

I would love to have this piece "finalized" over the Holiday weekend...but guessing some may not come here the next few days.

So, expecting a baby soon. The due date is Christmas Eve, but with c-section it'll be before that. I wanted to create something to go along with an announcement, and possibly give out at Christmas since it would be very close to that gift-giving day. The idea was to make some candles but that idea is also out and my final thought is to purchase candles in a glass jar with a metal lid (or glass) and place this sticker on top as a nice little gifting at the holiday gatherings.

I've thought about putting baby info on this (not sure where yet) but the idea of that means working on these the day of birth or after and getting to a printer…not going to happen too easily. I am not sure which pattern or color combo to go with.

The typeface for "Baby Name" is Wendy but is a placeholder. I still need to figure out which typeface to use. I like these:
Eye Catching, Shimmer or Secret Admirer from - http://www.myfonts.com/foundry/Blue_Vinyl_Fonts/
    Emily Line: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/emily-lime/emily-lime/
Capistrano or Narrative from Bomparte's Fonts: http://www.myfonts.com/foundry/Bompartes_Fonts/

    Something with a scripty/handwritten/cursive feel

If I do circles I could throw in a snowflake or two throughout the pattern as that might be a nice look too.

So, please let me know your overall thoughts (this would be a round sticker)

Brown & Pink OR Grey & Pink
    What pattern.
    What Typeface to use.

**this is the name in question with a few samples of Type -narrowed down some: http://myfonts.us/td-qd70bo
Anything else you might have to say about this.

THANKS in advance...and have a great Thanksgiving!!

I like the colours on the left but I prefer the pattern on the right.

Actually wonder if a P299 (blue) or Warm Gray 11 would be better?

I prefer the color and pattern on the left. I think brown and pink are a lovely and sophisticated combination for a baby girl. I've also never been keen on overly 'girly' themes like hearts and such.

I'm with Virgo. I prefer that too.

                interesting.
I started with grey, then moved to brown...but thought the Brown and Pink was overdone and seemed to hedge toward the Grey/Pink.

and have bounced back and forth on the pattern. one day i like dots, the other hearts.

(and brown = chocolate. baby poo isn't that color for a while)

Thanks all and keep letting me know people who look here.

Brown on Pink is classic, I think you may need a cool grey (maybe a touch darker too) for the grey on pink to work better.

IMO, the pattern needs to be squared up so it doesn't make the important parts look off-centre.

This might be just me, but I feel that the words break awkwardly.

                    "THE NEWEST
                    LIGHT & JOY
                    IN OUR WORLD"

I prefer the heart pattern, mainly because it's looser and the outlines are thicker. Nice work as per usual.

                      I cannot help it.

                      Unless I drink.

BTW I like the brown & pink one best!

                        thanks again.

KM, the pattern would be centered better, just threw it on there.
and I guess I was thinking of a play on words "Our newest light" as a reference to the candle.

The other hard part is obtaining nice candles which wont suck my wallet dry. Bath and Bodyworks has nice candles and great scent but they are $10 for a tiny thing and $20 for 4".

I like the brown and pink as well. The hearts are cute for a baby girl. Maybe you could incorporate them into the circles. Are you leaving the feet 'as is' or is that a placeholder for her actual footprints?

Not sure if you have Michaels where you live, but they have a 40% or 50% off coupon every week. It the coupon is only good for one item, then I drag a friend in there with me! I think hobby lobby has 40% off coupons weekly as well.

The feet will be "as is". She is due to be pulled out a week before Christmas. And not enough time to print/scan place her feet prints on it and have the sticker made. I want to be able to hand these out to people.

As for Michaels. We have one nearby but looked online and didn't see any candles with lids.

Hate going to Walmart but they seem to have a decent deal on 3" round candle jars with lids. Kohls has nice candles but 4" and they are $9 on sale. Could get a 30% off to make it 6 but that's more than WM prices and sticker price goes up too.
