Here is a hand lettering project I have been working on the last few days.

The "JEWELERS" line has some issues I know, but I will likely just use Garamond down there when I digitize it.

It looks good, what is the final product going to be?

Hey, skribe, will you be the one painting it on the glass? Or did they hire you to design and another company to install? I've often wondered about that, and was once approached about doing just this. I had no idea at the time how to approach it, and was too busy anyway, so turned them down.

If you do hand-paint it yourself, could you describe the process a bit? Maybe your preferred paint? Just curious. Thanks!

I will not be the one painting it, unless they want to pay me to fly back to the States. I do know the processes involved.

All the work is done in reverse on the inside of the glass. The outlines will be painted on using a mask cut on a plotter. Then the letters will be gilded using gold leaf. (The gold sticks to sizing made from water and gelatin) The back side of the gold leaf will be painted black. What will be used on the acanthus vine is still to be determined.

I likely got carried away on the shading of the vine, and some of that will have to be done away with.

A day with the pen tool, and a few thousand lines later here is the product. I kept feeling like the bottom text was just hanging out there so I put it on a decorative panel.

                      Thoughts?

Weeding the mask for that vine is going to make the sign guy want to kill me. It will be reverse weed of course but pulling all those little lines out is very tedious work. Although I have done worse stuff, and I used to enjoy the challenge. I really miss working in the sign shop. Some day when I am rich I will start my own sign shop to do stuff like this. I'll hire Print Driver and pay him twice what he is getting now, and a few the rest of you too! Definitely have to put Kittie Kat on my recruiting list for her font knowledge.
