    I agree, the borders are too heavy.

    Don't stretch the text. Use it at 100% scale only.

    Personally, I don't think you need vertical lines at all. Just horizontal rules would...

              I enjoy them as well... great work!!! Did you just take an actual image of a snail and use the Pen tool to outline the areas you wanted to accent?
