  • Brochure and poster designs

    #1
got this job about 2 months ago fron the Department of Education, specfically the IT Ed program. Seemed they had a designer work on these pieces and they hated his designs so they wanted me to take a crack at them. They love it. Going to press today with them. they wanted me to use their logo (which is thet T thing) and also use their site as a guideline. I would have done that regardless cause i'm a big fan if consistancy.

I honestly don't like designs with a "high teck" look. I don't know why, it's just a little too much. But i guess that's a matter of taste. But I think you could give the different elements a little air. There's not much room for the eyes to "breathe". I feel bad saying this after you were so nice about my poster, but I've got to be honest.

      hosnesty is a good thing.

I actually had them CUT some text out. I hate alot of text also... but it goes with the territory (this university stuff)

      thanks for the comments though

I like the layout - Maybe it's viewing it on a computer screen but the text is a little hard to separate from the background in places. I could see a 10-20% white transparency box behind the text. I like the general layout tho . . .

          Me likey!
I printed them out and the text is readable - meaning i didn't feel any interference with the background.

I love the blue at the top and bottom of the brochure. Its just a nice touch - not a simple boring straight line, but still simple and clean. I think the "high tech" layout works well with this considering we are talking about "Designing Your Future".

Nice and clean, easy to read. I think your layout works well.

          That campus is HUGE!

I like, I like. This doesn't mean that there's anything more to adjust or whatnot, but I'm personally hard pressed to find anything to really suggest. Particularly like the "borders" on the top and bottom.

The text thing has been mentioned, and that would certainly be a concern on the poster. After all, a poster is used to catch the eye of someone, and as someone advised me once, people don't like to read too much. Now that's not the case with a brochure, a brochure's purpose is to supply more information to an interested person, hence they WANT to read more.

But it's really all up to the client now, isn't it?

you got it Patrick... i tried to talk them down with the poster. they cut alot out of that actually. but hey.. .they are the client.

doesn't matter people they are targeting to are a bunch of nerds that like to read.

I like it and love that you used pantone gold on it. The only thing I don't like is the outlined text. But consitency is key and you got it. Good Job!

I dig it. Is it just me, or does their logo look a lot like a cross?

Would you expect anything less? Last week my jaw dropped in shock when a client sent me a logo in vector EPS format without being told twice.

Most people like a little face time. If someone sent me a form to fill out, I might wonder how that design relationship was going to proceed. Rather than send a form, call them if they aren't local, or...

Handing them or emailing them a sheet to fill out is like putting an obstacle between a client/potential client and their goal, not to mention it can come off at bit impersonal/uninterested. Talk to them,...
