  • Electronika CD cover

    #1
here is a cd cover i have started on, its only a roughup but i'd like some feedback on it if you have a moment to spare.
it says 'electronika', the typeface i used is called: 'Qubicle 1 BRK'
the text at the bottom says 'selected bips and bleeps' in 'missleman'.

Even though you can't really read it, I like it just how it is. It is different enough to get you to look at it closer to see what it is.

can you explain a little more about the product? If I was in a music store, and this was on the shelf, mainly because if I have to sit and try to figure out what is says for more than 10 seconds, I'm off. I like the design, but maybe you could just reinforce the title, by putting it over 'selected bleeps and blips' in a larger font.

i like the squares, though. Is it me, or are some of the strokes seem thicker than others? It could just be the way the JPG exported. You might try drawing your own blocks if that's the case.

Or you can do it the easy way and slap Christina Aguilera's pelvic area on the cover.

But really, I'll try to be helpful now. I like it, in theory. I'd get it centered and use some more eye-catching colors. Something like this grabs my attention as it is, but a lot of other people may differ from my tendencies. Reminds me of Coldplay album or something.

One thing you could try is throw most, if not all, coloring at the O. It's the closest letter to center on the image, and would likely get the most attention first. It's also the largest.

I like looking at it, although the gaps between the objects bother me a little. Looks like some of the strokes might have a different weight to them as well.
          It is very Q-bertesque

I finally was able to follow the letters to spell electronika. I think you may want to arrange the letters more in the way in which we read, so that it is a bit more obvious to the buyer.

Here I need to start with the "E" then look above it for the "L". At least let me start with the "E" and look either to the right or down for the "L". That seems to be a more natural progression and I don't think it will hurt the image.

            Jsut my two cents.

Or you can just spell out "Electronika" on the cover along with it. I would recommend that, if name recognition is what you're going for.

cheers for the comments guys, i'll take them into account and do some work on it. I think those varied line weights are the PNG exporting.

Those varied line weights are good (even if they were not on purpouse) I would try even more thicker and thiner lines to vary a bit. The idea is cool and I like it as simple as it is, but you need to fine tune some things.

I think you do need some point of attraction, that red logo in the corner works almost as one, but it should be a little bigger. And I wouldn't have read "electronica" if you had not told us. I don't think that's bad, maybe you just need to write it in another font at the bottom.

I actually ended up going with RichCopy. It's free, only overwrites files that have been changed since last backup (quicker backups,) and doesn't compress or pack the files. My brother who is an IT tech...

Yep, I had a look at this forum on an iPad this morning and looked pretty good. Doesn't work with Tapatalk, but maybe we don't need it to.

Actually, not so bad for a beginner. The thing is, it's not only a matter of doing it "correctly;" it's one of those things that simply takes practice. It's no different than when you were new...

                    I use Cobain Backup http://www.cobiansoft.com/index.htm

It's real easy to use and doesn't change your files in any way.
