  • Teachers? Tips?

Hey Graphic Designers! My name is Ryan, and I'm currently in high school, and I love the art of graphic designing. I was wondering since I'm a newbie if any of you have any tips to lend me overall using photoshop. Anything from links to tutorial videos, to letting me make you a "trial" run! Anything of this nature could help me and I'd love for it to as well!

Photoshop is a photo editing tool. It's not normally used for Graphic Design layout.
You may have photo manipulation and what we call "sig art" confused with actual Graphic Design.

If you have any intention of entering the field of Graphic Design as a career, be darn sure you know what you are getting into. Right now, entry level skills for the most menial of design jobs is a 4 year degree and 2 years of on-the-job experience. It also isn't about doing the art you love. It's about working to communicate your clients' message. In whatever fashion it takes to put it across. You have to like the challenge of that process rather than striving to create a pretty picture that is pleasing to your sense of Art.

        Lesson 1:

Photoshop is a very useful tool in Graphic Design for photo editing. For just about every other task in graphic design, use a pen and pencil (or other traditional tools), InDesign or Illustrator.

Don;'t use Photoshop for designing logos or doing layout.
