  • Fountain pen porn (is there something wrong with me?)

    (Talk about your rhetorical question!)

The only thing I love more than a great pen is seeing it used by someone with great penmanship skills.

If you share this fetish, pull down the window shades and enjoy:

I used to have a Namiki Grance. Great pen, especially for sketching. Gold nib, fine point (Japanese nibs are finer than western ones). Unfortunately it disappeared around the time I moved and despite going over my old apartment with a fine-tooth comb, I never did see it again.

My current mainstay is an blue Esterbrook with a calligraphy tip (I want to invest in some alternate nibs for it at some point), and I also have a vintage Schaeffer that needs some repair, a low-to-mid range Pelikan (not one of the 100s series), and one I got at flea market that says "Moore" on the clip. Another fine, flexible nib, its size makes me think it was a ladies' pen but, again, great for sketching.

In the past I've lusted after Parker Duofolds, Montblancs, and others that are way out of my price range. And now maybe the one in this video. Oh yeah, spread that nib, baby.

I was expecting one of those girlie pens where the clothes disappear when you turn them over. Very dissapointed.

So Nobert... does that mean, I'm not a sicko?

I thought this was going to be about the pens you turn upside down and the naked lady appears

It's too bad I really wouldn't know what to do with one once I got it in my hands. The pen, that is.

                          OK, I'll stop now.

The potential for innuendo in this thread could easily put the recent "Canadian Porn Film" exchange to shame.

I have horrible handwriting, but I love fountain pens. My daily pen is an Aurora Ipsilon. I have several nicer pens in my collection (a couple Namikis, a lower-end Omas, many Sheaffers, a couple Montblancs, etc.). I also collected demonstrators for a while, but I don't think many manufacturers make them any more.

Turns out my grandfather was big into fountain pens as well, and I inherited a lot of his pens. Many of them needed some TLC at Fountain Pen Hospital. But it's nice to write with a pen that first wrote on paper in the 20's.
