  • Book Layout

    #1
Aright so my professor assigned the most vague project on book layouts. We had to find a classical play's script, import it to in-design, and then design a "classical" book style layout with the entire script, and then create a modern style layout, something we came up with. Any ideas on what this guy is lookin for??? My guess would be analyzing size, leading, and margins from pages of old books and creating something similar but Im not sure. What do you think?? Now he didnt post any guidlines for this so I am lost!

Sounds like he's leaving a lot to your creative juices. (don't go there mac.finn) I think your guess sounds accurate. Have fun with it!!

      ^ true.

Could you approach him and ask for clarification? That way if he tells you that he wants you to "just be creative with it", it's one thing, but if he does have something specific in mind he should be able to point you in the right direction.

      And welcome to the forum.

I would suggest use of the golden proportion in determining your margins for the old-school design

        Just my two cents.

Securing them will work. You can decide whether or not to allow printing.

However, if someone really wants to bypass the security on a PDF, it's pretty simple to do.

I just designed a menu for a new customer, 6 8.5 x 14 pages. She's asking me for pdfs without a watermark and it looks like the email she wants me to send them to is

What kind of machine are you printing with? It isn't so much a matter of material as whether or not you have the machinery capable of making semi-durable prints. You have a few key points that are semi-exclusional....

If you highlight and show your paths and anchor points with the preview of the illustration, you'll likely get more specific feedback.

I'm starting to redo most of the illustration. I started again by doing another simplified, vector like sketch of my original sketch. I've only finished the face area. Anymore help you can offer?
