  • Help! I can't convert font to curves

    #1
    Hi

I'm trying to get a T shirt design (created in Illustrator CS2) printed. The printers rejected my first effort saying my design didn't have enough curves for the "plot" printer

The design is just text and the font is Trajan pro. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Alfie

That's not a lot of information. Sounds like you need to find another printer.

"Plot" printers or "Plotters" need to have a vector file so it can print, stitch, die cut, etc... Have you checked the file to make sure your font converted properly? You may have used a screen font.

      Thanks for the reply.

I'm trying to get a tshirt printed by " Spreadshirt" ( an online printers) and they pointed out that the font wasn't in curves. I've since found the tool for doing this and it all it did was outline the text and give me the impression that my font was too small. So I changed from Trajan font to Ariel increased the size of the font had another look in "outline" and it looked like it was big enough to be cut out on a plotter. Is this all there is to it I wanted to use Trajan in (a smallish size)but unfortunately it looked like it would be too complicated for them to cut round.

Thanks again for your earlier reply,I've got to hit the sack now as I am trying to recover from a very drunken week-end .

      Cheers

They may be asking you to change the font to outlines (curves). To do this, select the text with the direct selection tool (the dark arrow), then go to the menu bar as follows: Type -> Create Outlines. Trajan can do this. If you send them the file after you have done that and they still have problems... get another printer.

I suggest you read this before you upload files to Spreadshirt:

          http://www.spreadshirt.com/Uploading-Graphics.29.0.html

Download the templates and read around, and you'll get the hang of it.

I always make sure to convert text to outlines before printing. I've had too many problems with getting text printed before.

Moo's cards are printed on HP indigos. Definitely a step up from "common" copier-based digital printing, and on the upper tier of digital printing, but if you could go for traditional offset...
