  • Uploading/Using Asian fonts

    #1
I have two Asian fonts, MingLiu & Simsun, that I've installed in my System Fonts folder. How can I type on the keyboard and view the Asian fonts on screen? My keyboard viewer is only showing English and the Language options in my Character Palette show pretty much every language BUT Asian. *I am able to select the fonts I need in the Control Panel Character Palette, but only the English default fonts are displaying onscreen.

    Any suggestions?

    Windows?

You need to install support for the language using the add/remove components part of the add/remove software control panel. You'll also need your Windows install disk.

    Mac?

    Uh, sorry, can't remember...

I am working on Mac OSX, if that helps narrow it down. I get so far as to having it load on my system fonts and show in my Character Palette (within InDesign CS3)...it just will not display any Asian character that I type on the keyboard. Tricky? Yes. Frustrating? Double Yes.

Specifically what Asian language are you talking about here? I recently read an InDesign magazine article about certain language support not being available except for specific versions of the program that cater to that language, I'll have to dig around and find it.

Yum. I do love salmon sandwiches. The bakery near me do great smoked salmon bagels. It's not a bagel shop so they don't jack up the prices.

Today I had leftovers. Chorizo and...

It won't stay this way ... but, they have to get all the bugs worked out first and then we will worry about cosmetic issues

I would try to us the join feature on the pathfinder. The first icon. you might want to select all of one color and then use the pathfinder to get rid of some unnessary anchors. Good luck getting the...

Yes, I plan to have about 8-10 projects, many taking two pages (single side). the price break for the printer was at 25 sheets, so that's what I was going with. I haven't laid anything out yet as I've...
