  • Please review my web banner generator

    Hello, Everyone,

I have recently made HTML banner generator page - www.banimatic.com It generates web banners based solely on website URL. So just enter your website URL and it will show the banners generated.

Since I am more a web developer, than a designer, I would like any feedback on the banners generated.

    Thank you.

The forum rules prohibit advertising (which I have a hunch this might be), but since you're looking for feedback on a design-related website, well, okay -- just this once.

Thank you . In truth, this is not a proper product yet, so I am looking more for a feedback, than advertising. I anyone could take a look and tell me what they think, I will be grateful. It only takes to enter your website URL to see the results.

Hi Raimisj and welcome to GDF.

We ask all new members to read very important links here and here. These explain the rules, how the forum runs and a few inside jokes. No, you haven't done anything wrong, we ask every new member to read them. Your first few posts will be moderated, so don't panic if they don't show up immediately. Enjoy your stay.

          cons:
          • The 320x100 and 320x50 banners don't show the url.
          • Descriptions are almost always too long for the banner.
          • There is no intuitive correlation between the color selector and what it does.
          • Specifying the animation type used is unintuitive
          • You could animate 'smart' based on the banner size people use.
          • I don't like the images on the 320x100 and 320x50.
          • Specifying the font-style is unintuitive
          • The 'Please login to save changes' message is killing me and also crashed my browser once. If I can't change it, disable it and tell me that is only available for people with accounts only on top. (I would only restrict the downloading part to anonymous people so they can at least try it out)
          pros:
          • It retrievers the url correctly
          • most of the time it picks the right logo from the page
          other
          • Is animating a banner for such a short duration viable while loading the page (it might not even be visible in some cases) or will the animation trigger when the banner slides into view?
On a final note I have a small question: "How did you handle navigating on your page without reloading? I see you made some GET requests but they all returned an empty response."

Thank you for feedback. Indeed 320x100 and 320x50 sizes are the worst - it was hard to do something meaningful with such limited space.

I have taken into account your other suggestions and will try to improve the service.

As for animations, those should be improved too. In the current state, it loads as soon as a page is loaded.

This is a single page application, no navigation is actually taking place - navigation is done using javascript (it changes the URL in browser address bar and loads the required content on the same page using javascript too).

I dunno, I think it is worse when the dead headliners DO show up.

              Not very sexy imho

I'm a creature of necessity. A lot of times the end client will want an actual signed release and a real photo credit, so you have to attempt to find the artist.

All I can suggest is consult a tax expert in the UK. If your company doesn't mind you moonlighting like this, maybe they could suggest someone for you.

I do business with people in the UK a lot. Because the gig they hire us for is going to be in the US, they time shift their design staff so they are available during US Eastern Time. It's the only way...
