  • Web headers...how much to charge?

    I've got a new customer and he's having me design some headers for the tops of some web pages for him. What's a fair price? I've got over a couple hours in this first one (I've provided him 4 samples and he chose one), but I don't want to scare him off.

    He's thrilled with my work and said he's overly impressed with my professionalism and speed. He's unhappy with the people he's been working with. There's a potential for more work with him, I just don't wanna be too cheap or too pricey.

    Is $50-60.00 too much?

      I'm cheap, I charge $15 an hour on most things. But I am down really down south in a small community. I think demographics have alot to do with how much you charge. I'm here for the little guy. Small business solutions. I have done large business and I charge a bit more. If it takes less than an hour I still charge the bottom line of $15. It all depends (for me, where you are and whats the going rate) Above all... don't cut yourself short. You have to eat too!

        Thanks! I usually charge $30.00 an hour, I just thought maybe since headers are so easy to create I should charge a little less. I lose money on so many jobs because I'm always going over my stuff nitpicking little things. I get too picky on some things that the customer probably wouldn't even notice, but thats just the way I am.

        Thanks again for the feedback...I'll stick with $30.00 an hour and see if he squeels about it.

            $30 an hour seems fair. If you are in a big city, you might up that a little though.

                    Wow you guy are cheap I'm at $75 hourly and seriously considering raising my price. lol!

                      yeah, $30 an hour seems pretty low... i would charge at least $50 per hour.

                        yeah, i charge $50-75 (depending on project, web or print) and i'm in columbia, mo .... much smaller demographically as compared to stl
