    I used to love web design but have fallen off that wagon as my job has taken me in different directions. Part of my goal this year is to 'plan' a redesign of my company websites. I work at a bank (actually there are three banks owned by the same company) that uses a lot of third party products for online banking stuff and IT is claiming that the site must be built in .net? That does not sound right to me - Any reason why this would be true other than IT - who maintains the current site - does not know how to code HTML or have anyone dedicated to the website.

    issue two. I want implement a CMS. Can anyone recommend a CMS of some sort. I want certain people/departments to be able to update their own text on their pages. What is a good CMS to look at for this? I am hoping to outsource the building of the project but need to put my plan together to present first.

    Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful

    .net is a backend programming language used to interface with databases and create dynamic content. What shows up on the front end is HTML.

    They're probably requiring it because they're running Windows servers (which is expensive and dumb IMO).

      Yes - .net must be run on Windows server - if that's the case, your CMS options will shrink quite a bit, at least in my experience.

      One CMS that we've been using a lot these days is Drupal - we love it - really extensible, and - although a bit of a learning curve - easy to implement - but, I believe, not utilizing Windows server technology

      If it's for a bank - will it be just the marketing site, or will there be online banking, etc. through it?

        Note: The CC updates were released this morning. On a Mac, you must be running Lion or greater (10.7 or 10.8) to run Photoshop. I'm not sure about the other apps yet.
