  • weird IE6 rendering

    #1
    so got a problem with the way a site shows up in IE6. It works fine in the latest IE and Firexfox and Safari......however in IE6 the address information in the top right corner is moved down causing several div to move down. it is like been moved down to the base of the header or something. anyone got css ideas.
    the site is
    www.studenberg-law.com

    many thanks.

    I took a real quick look, maybe try floating the address div left instead of right since you have all your other divs floating left.

        It will move up against the logo div which si floated left as well. You might have to adjust your padding and margins afterward. Do you have Firebug extension for Firefox? it will help diagnose problems, and you can change css in the browser to see if it fixes or messes things up.

            My recommendation is to forget about floating and position the header relatively then position the logo and div containing the address info absolute. That will take care of the problem. Floating everything is rarely the answer.

              HTML Code:
              #header {
              	width: 853px;
              	height: 150px;
              	background: #fff url(Images/css_header.jpg) no-repeat top left;
              	position: relative;
              }

              #header #logo {
              	width: 343px;
              	height: 95px;
              	background: #fff url(Images/weblogo.jpg) no-repeat top left;
              	position: absolute;
              	top: 37px;
              	left: 30px;
              }

              #header #address {
              	position: absolute;
              	height: 95px;
              	width: 425px;
              	top: 37px;
              	right: 30px;
              }

                  I take it that did the job?

                  If you like floating everything then you should look into absolute faux positioning. The technique produces consistent results across all browsers (including IE6). Great for column intensive layouts.

                    I still say go for the screwpost book. It may seem expensive, but its flexibility outweighs the extra cost, IMO. If it's out of date in 6 months, you can spend $2.60 per page to add to it or to replace...

                    From what I understand, this version of vBulletin will work much better on a mobile device on its own without needing Tapatalk. I haven't tried this myself, but that's the rumor I hear.
