    Hi All -

    I've been doing web sites for years, but have always used my hosts web stats tools.

    I've finally decided to join the 21st century and use Google Analytics instead (partially based on client's requests), and have a question or two on it -

    1) does the analytics code need to be embedded into every page, or just the index/ home page?

    Actually - the answer to that may answer my other questions, so let's just start with that.

    i think it has to be installed on whatever pages you want stats tracked for.

        was hoping for some real-human thoughts (you know, human as in on a forum ) For example, the instructions say to paste the code "below your site's content" - but isn't very specific about each page, etc.

        No worries - I'll stop being lazy and sit down and read their info

          I'm pretty sure it needs to be on each page for which you want the stats. We have it on a handful of my company's pages, and add it to new pages if we're trying to track hits from an ad campaign or something.

            Deff on every page if you want all pages tracked.

            Easiest way is if you have a dynamic site, include it in the footer.

            Otherwise you need to copy the code to all pages.

              OK thanks guys -
              here's the follow-up: do I have to re-generate code for each page, and submit each page to my Analytics account?

              Or can I just use the same code on each page - and is it enough to just have the top-level page be the one submitted to the Analytics account...

                i have used google analytics for about a month on 3 seprate websites, and from what i have learned in order for google to track the about of traffic to a specific page the code must be added to that page.

                as for the code it is the same for every page.
