  • AS3 Project Problems

    #1
I'm trying to figure out why a Flash project made up of entirely AS3 would work on one computer, but not another. When I copy the entire folder from the project to my computer and test the fla, none of the animation works. All of the external .as files are there and everything. I'm not very familiar with AS3, so I didn't know if I could possibly not have something installed on my computer to make it work.

    Any ideas?

Does the other machine have a Flash Player installed on it? Is it the latest version??

Yes besides any additional things he might have installed on it, we have identical Macs with the full Adobe Suite installed.

Are the linked paths - machine specific or specific to the files?

        computer/my documents/website/myfile.as or links/myfile.as

I should also note that the .swf saved from his computer works on mine. However, publishing a new one from the .fla on my computer does not. That makes me wonder if I don't have something installed to make it work when it's publishing?

Missing the activeX script in the file?

It uses relative paths as far as I know. The only one I see in the .fla uses a relative that links the others (I'm assuming, still figuring it out).

Where would I find if the activeX script is missing or not?

Just wanted to let you guys know I finally found the problem. In the Publish Settings > ActionScipt 3 Settngs it was giving a definite path to the other person's computer to access the class files. Whew!

In regards to style I think it looks...well messy. It reminds me of something you would get doing autotrace. Strange shapes curves etc. I personally would like more hair like shapes. Nice smooth tapering...

I still say go for the screwpost book. It may seem expensive, but its flexibility outweighs the extra cost, IMO. If it's out of date in 6 months, you can spend $2.60 per page to add to it or to replace...

OK, my odyssey for a new portfolio continues. I found a local print shop who will print double-sided one-offs for me on a digital press on 100# cover, satin finish for $2.60 per double-sided page. The...

From what I understand, this version of vBulletin will work much better on a mobile device on its own without needing Tapatalk. I haven't tried this myself, but that's the rumor I hear.

The key you want is the grave accent key. It is the shortcut for Maximize or Restore Frame Under Cursor.

Flash files often do not translate well to video unless they are simple, fully timeline-based...
