Hey all im curious im on CS4 Photoshop and for some reason when i try to slice the area of my button placement i get this pre-sliced outline??? Here is a screenshot of what i mean. Is there a reason for this? And is there a cure? HELP

well, you can CROP down to the button. But if you slice the page up you're going to get slices of the entire page. -

Basically, you have your art board (see above), and you "slice" it up. When you slice up a file you end up with lots of little images. The parts of the file that you want to keep, and all the other sections that are around it.
So if all you want is a button in the middle, when you save out the file you will get all the extra bits around the button as well. You can either keep them, or through them out.
Hence why I said for him to crop the file down, instead of slicing it up, to the size of the button. If a button is all he wants when he saves.
Kind of make sense?
I will do a write up on it later on for my new tutorial section of my site.

I get the bit about cropping to the button, but why slice an image into bits? (I know I'm being totally n00b here, I'm trying to pick up some Web knowledge wherever I can.)Comment

I understand now. I was just watching a tutorial and when the guy went to slice his buttons all those lines didnt show up. Only what he actually sliced. I didn't know if there was a way around that or if it would even affect anything. Your a geniusComment
