  • Finding a Websites server?

    #1
I was wondering if there is any way to find out what server a website uses. The reason I ask is the business that I work at has an atrocious website, and they would like me to redesign it. ( I do web design on the side). My only problem is, when I first mentioned the website, pretty much everyone I asked, the managers, and the consultant for the owners, all said "We have a website?" So I need to find out the server we use so that I can know where to send the new website. We had a previous employee do the website who no longer works for us, so I really have no way of finding it. Thanks all!

Edit, never mind, apparently they recently stopped paying the website bill I'm guessing. It went down. Now I can start from scratch lol.

If you're using a Mac, use the Network Utilities app in the system's Utilities folder to do a whois search.

If you're using a PC, I'm sure someone will be along soon to help.
