I was browsing through my old hard drive and found this pic I took two summers ago. To be more exact, it's 10 frames stacked together of two nebulae, Messier 8 and Messier 20 in Sagittarius. The one on the left that looks pinkish, is actually red cause of the emission of Hydrogen. But because most cameras come with an IR Cut filter that blocks infrared light, the color looks more dull.

If anyone else has any stuff he'd/she'd like to share, he's/she's more than welcomed to do so. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Plain shots of the night sky included.

Nice picture! Stars are being born there.

Got a Celestron 8, got a Nikon D70, haven't got a camera adapter. I really must do something about that some day, and likewise for the microscopes.

            Visionary.

I love it. There's an astronomy thread

Really looking forward to your pictures!

              Thank y'all.

The Astronomy thread is geared more towards general stuff. I thought it would be a good idea to have a separate one specifically for this purpose. After all, Astrophotography is a subcategory of Photography and deserves to have it's rightful place in this section

NASA unveiled a new atlas and catalog of the entire infrared sky today showing more than a half billion stars, galaxies and other objects captured by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission.

"Today, WISE delivers the fruit of 14 years of effort to the astronomical community," said Edward Wright, WISE principal investigator at UCLA, who first began working on the mission with other team members in 1998.

Took that pic yourself? Or purposefully avoiding the astronomy thread? Me thinks the latter, because of how erm politely nice you are...
