  • Filter help?

    #1
I'm considering buying an adapter for my Z6 so I can use filters on it. I've read varying opinions on filters - some people say don't even bother with filters on a digital camera. Others say there's a couple filters they simply can't live without.

Since my current camera is not a DSLR, (but is a nice camera, worth spending a little $ on helpful accessories) I don't want to go wild with tons of expensive accessories. But I am considering a couple Tiffen or Hoya filters. I've read reviews on these, stating that they are quite good and not as expensive as some higher-end brands.

So what's your opinion? Filter or no?
    Recommended brands?
    Filters you can't live without?

I'm considering a UV filter and a Circular Polarizing filter.

I personally can't live without my filters on certain shots. I have a UV, Polarizer, and a FD "skylight" filter, which basically adds warmth to a black and white shot.

Also macro lenses are the shiz. As for filters I plan on buying? I plan on getting a soft focus filter for portrait shots, and a cross filter which adds 4 point stars to light.

But yeah, neutral density and polarizing filters are a must have, so I would start with those.

Thanks D-Frag. I think I am going to get that adapter. I mean, shoot, it's only $15 anyway. And a couple Hoya or Tiffen filters won't be more than $15-$20 each. Might as well give it a try

Personally i don't have any now, i used to have a UV filter on my previous 70-200mm f4.
However i'm looking to get a polarizer and a ND filter.
