  • Illustrator: clipping mask question.

    Hello,

Is it possible to get rid of all content outside a clipping mask?
I have this very very complex drawing (slowing my mac way way down) of which I only need everything (a small portion) inside the mask.

    Thank you.

The answer to that depends entirely on the nature of the clipped objects.

The first thing to try (on a copy of the file) is this:
    1. Release the clipping mask
    2. Hide the clipping object
    3. Expand everything; Select all, Object > Expand
    4. Show the clipping shape and re-apply as mask
    5. With it still selected, click the Crop button in the Pathfinder panel
If that gives an undesirable result, you'll have to re-analyze, and perhaps do some parts of it manually.
I'd rather be killed than come to your party, but if you don't invite me, I'll kill myself.
