illustrator CS2 cmyk values!? Page Title Module

  • illustrator CS2 cmyk values!?

    i need some help. i'm using illustrator CS2. i draw a box. fill it with 0c 0m 0y 50k. all the "0" automatically change to "-0". i have no idea why it does this. i click ok. the box fills. i double click the fill again and it shows a completely different cmyk value.

    i already made sure that i'm working in CMYK and not RGB.

    can someone help?

    i just tried the same thing and had no problem.

    REBOOT RELAUNCH and RETRY

    I can't think of any reason that would happen.

      i tried that. it didn't make a difference. when i type 100c all the other 0 values for m.y.k change to "-0" and the gamut warning shows up...as if to tell me that 100 cyan is out of the CMYK gamut!?!?!?

      any ideas? anyone??? 100 sixpointbleed points to the winner who can help me!

        Illustrator is telling you this? Have you snoop around in your color settings?

            I've always heard that nine points (1/8 inch) is standard for bleed, but okay.

            Have you tried throwing away your preferences?

              mac tiger. ya i went snooping around my color settings. i'm not sure what the ideal settings are. can someone tell me what their settings so i can try yours and see what happens?

                  how do i throw away my preferances?

                  i was taught in school to bleed to six points. but since then i've heard several different opinions.

                    Command shift option while launching Illustrator. You can let go after the program fully launches.

                    In terms of color settings, North America Prepress 2 is probably good. It really depends on what your final output destination is. Some printers have custom settings that they use, but as a start-off point that one's probably fine.

                      trashing the prefs didn't solve the problem. ive attached 2 pics.

                      the first one the color palette when i type the values in.

                      the second one is the color value after i click "ok" and then re-check the color.

                      has anyone ever seen anything like this?

                          I've never seen that before. I have Illy 10 at home and I've not been able to figure this one out. What version of tiger are you?

                              My bad. I have that picker too, although I never use it in Illy, so didn't even know it was there.
