  • FLASH OR FIREWORKS AND HOW DO I IMPORT TO DREAMWEAVER CORRECTLY?

    #1
I have a logo I created in photoshop that I want to bring into my dreamweaver web page. I want the logo to 'fade' onto the screen...I would think I would do this in flash or fireworks and have been trying both by am having the following issues:
I was able to achieve what I wanted in fireworks by making the logo, which i imported from photoshop, an animation...but can't figure out how to import into dreamweaver so it will play the animation correctly. and maybe this is not the best way to do this anyway? What is the best way to do this and then how to i export correctly into dreamweaver...please help me!! thanks!!

I replied to you already in the other thread but will here too. I'm not all too sure that you can get the effect you want in FW but I am not 100% sure b/c I use ImageReady and Flash for animated files. If you do it in flash you need to save it as a flash file, then export it as a flash movie file. Then go into dream weaver, pick the spot you want the animated logo to appear and choose the 'insert flash movie' tab from the toolbar. It will prompt you to browse/choose the correct file in which you want to choose the movie file, not the .fla file. Again, if you'd like me to toss your logo into flash and then stick it on an html page for you to reference the coding I'll be happy to.

to import an animated gif you just bring it in as an image...

are you saving optimized or just saving the animated gif?

SWF files are exported flash files that you should be using

i would guess that it's because you've taken one animation and put it into another animation then put it in another program (ps > flash > dw) and that's just overkill. you've got the original gif fighting with the actions in flash. too much.

why not just make the animated bit in flash? i know you've done it now, but it's not working, so perhaps you should recreate it in flash and put the stop in the end.

or that's how i would've tackled the project.

                luck!

k, thanks. i started out doing it in flash but seemed so much easier to quickly create frames in fireworks...since i can't get the looping to stop though you'e probably right, i shoudl just do in flash, thanks!

HELP!!! So I did my animation in Flash but I don't know how to put the 'stop' at the end so it only pllays once. i imported it into Dreamweaver and it keeps playing over and over. In the dialougue box in Flash it was set to loop 0 times so I don't know why it's doing this. My other big problem is that the animation is small, about 1 inch by two inches, but when I import it into dreamweaver the file seems to be the size of the entired stage, in other words it brings this huge white background with it???!!! How do I tell Flash that I just want it to export the sympol and want there ot be no background??? AAAH, help!!! I am finding using flash, fireworks, dreamweaver so frustrating. I read the tutorials and help sections but none of my issues are ever in there.....

                      Laura-
You should set the bg in flash to be whatever color its going to be on top of in dw. I'm not sure if you can import just the logo/image but someone else might know that. In one of the threads you posted here, someone told you what to add at the end to stop the looping. Try that!

Someone just said to 'put a stop at the end' but I don't know what that means. Need to know how I do this.

You need to put what's called a 'stop' frame action on the last frame in your movie. Flash comes with really nice tutorials that will tell you how to insert a frame action.

on the last frame of your flash animation put:

                            stop();

That's will stop the playhead from advancing any more.
