    #1
the idiots that did our catalog split it up into 2 indy files. i need to make a pdf of the whole catalog now but don't know how to go about doing this since its in 2 files. anyone have ideas on this?

you can create a book, import the 2 docs and send the lot to print as pdf or export as pdf.

Make two pdf files from inDesign files and then just combine the PDF files in Acrobat Professional. Simple.

It comes with the CS2 package. I'm sure there are different options where it's not included, but that's how I have it. You think you can do it in the Standard edition of Acrobat also.

I don't know why you called them idiots...sounds like they did the cover in a file and the text pages in another....not unusual. Seems you have most the problems. As stated, just combine the pdf's into one using Acrobat Professional, or, you could just ask for it from the designers.

well now that you say that it's actually 3 files. the cover is a separate file, pages 3-37, pages 38-61. we also had a lot of problems with them printing it, colors were way off. that's why they are idiots

I think they're idiots more for designing a multi-page catalog in a program that doesn't support multiple pages. Unless there was a reason for doing that which I can't possibly imagine.

File size could be a issue.

i don't know mynock i was thinking that but it really shouldn't have been. i did the catalog last year and had no problem with file size.

we are getting acrobat pro so i'll just piece it together when we get the software.

i'll be doing the catalog this year because we will start doing it in August rather than November. they wanted me to do 2 catalogs in about 6 weeks including photography! so this year i told them we need to start way way way earlier.

                            thanks for the help guys

(Not really relevant since you don't have the fonts, but...)

I had one document here that was causing me trouble as a single file, so I split it into multiple files, and then combined them using an Indesign book. Works great. I'm still figuring out all the stuff I can do with Indy books, but they've come in really handy for that job, and among other things, do support exporting the whole book as a single pdf.

If you highlight and show your paths and anchor points with the preview of the illustration, you'll likely get more specific feedback.

I'm starting to redo most of the illustration. I started again by doing another simplified, vector like sketch of my original sketch. I've only finished the face area. Anymore help you can offer?
