  • Missing Profile!?!

    #1
I've recently started having a problem with Photoshop 7. When i open any images, even if they are .PSD's i get an warning come up, saying the image doesn't have an embedded colour profile!?!

I haven't altered any of the settings, so can't understand why it's just started happening!?! I have a feeling it's got something to do with transferring files between photoshop and Illustrater, as it's only started happening since using Illustrater!?!

    Any ideas? *shrugs helplessly*

no idea, have you gone into your color setting sin PS and set them back to the settings you had before? there is also a way to clear out your preferences, although I don't know how to do that off the top of my head.

Do you embed a color profile in your images?

You may have done something inadvertently to your color settings in PS. Somewhere there is a checkbox that says 'ask if mismatch' between your current settings and the settings you used on the image. If the box wasn't checked before, you wouldn't have seen the warning. I don't have PS7 here, so can't check but in CS it's under Color Settings. I always have mine set to US Prepress Defaults and have it check for mismatches.

What exactly is it you are doing when you are 'transferring files back and forth'. Are you placing images into Illustrator, doing stuff to them, the exporting them out as raster images back into Photoshop? Cuz if you don't have your color setting right in Illustrator that may remove your color profile.

Thanks guy's it was where you said it would be

I've no idea why it would suddenly come on now, as i've left most things on the default settings, and never go into the colours section!?! (i have no idea at all about colour, so i leave it well alone lol)

I had started transferring between the two, because i prefer to do the text in AI but am still more comfortable doing graphics in Photoshop; but for some reason it has some strange consequences like messing with image sizes and colours!?! I think i need to learn more of the practical side of things, as i don't really understand why the programs do these things!?! I've obviously got the two programs set up in a conflicting way..

Isn't that what a portfolio, online or physical is for?

And just like that heh, "My ideas cost money!"?

So I been working on logo illustration, and coming to closure I realized this has wayyyyyyy to many anchor points. It has over 617,000 anchor points and the file size is huge. The AI file size is 9.6...

Sorry, I meant use the space they're in now, just to better effect. I like the actual layout of the poster; it's just not conveying the right mood yet.

Fair point. I was thinking I would have to replace the whole thing, but I certainly could keep some works and just swap out as needed.

In regards to style I think it looks...well messy. It reminds me of something you would get doing autotrace. Strange shapes curves etc. I personally would like more hair like shapes. Nice smooth tapering...
