  • LiveTrace is lame.

I am somewhat new to the creative suites and wanted to see if anyone could grace me with their expertise. When scanning an image into Illustrator I find myself having to live trace my scanned in images to be able to manipulate the image in illustrator, but live trace bastardizes my artwork even when I adjust the preferences. Is there another way to manipulate scanned images in illustrator without lowering the quality? Should i bring the image into photoshop then illustrator? If so, how? any help would be appreciated to the max.

I'm not sure why you're manipulating images in Illustrator, or even live tracing them. Are you trying to "vectorize" them?

What kind of artwork is it?

If you want decent artwork you are going to need to learn how to use the pen tool and draw on top of your scanned artwork.

Are these actual pictures? Or just sketched BW line art?

I'm not going to bother saying what's already been said, I agree with it. I would suggest showcasing one area of interest per poster.

It's done by "hand". No plug-ins. No scripts. The designer uses their design skills to create ... um ... designs. Take a look at the video and links on this 2012 thread. All hand done from the...

Yeah, the hierarchy is an issue. The "ITD" and how it is rendered is more feint than the items surrounding it. The illustrations are nice, but unfortunately, not really important. I would not...

Thanks KitchWitch. I have read through most of the FAQ and rules stickeys. I'm going through the inside jokes now.

Here's my only suggestion, and I'm only giving it to you because this is probably the piece with the most promise that I've seen you post. However if you pull a 180 from this concept I will not comment...
