  • Adobe CS 2.0

    #1
    Read this on MacRumors.com today:

Think Secret reports that Adobe may announce Creative Suite 2.0, with Photoshop CS 2.0 (Photoshop 9) and Illustrator CS 2.0 (Illustrator 12), as soon as next week. It is expected to use Bridge, a cross-suite file browser, is not expected to include 64-bit Photoshop support, and may have 'stricter product activation'.

Among the expected Photoshop features: lossless scaling of placed files, automatic updating of such files when the original is edited, operations across a selection of layers, WYSIWYG fonts, and other improvements.

The 'completely reworked' Illustrator is expected to provide a user experience more like that of Photoshop, a new vectorization tool, support for strike-through and underlined text, and other improvements.

How cool does 'vectorize' tool sound. I guess I'll have to stop telling people that I can't just click the 'vectorize' button in Illy.

Exactly what I was thinking, Silence. I have similar thoughts about Apple's FOURTH major OS revision in as many years!

I think they should re-add Acrobat in the basic package for the next revision. All four programs were included in the original Adobe Design Collection that sold for the same price as the CS Suite.

We discussed integrating Streamline into Illustrator in another thread not long ago, and it sounds like what this 'vectorization' tool is.

The stricter product activation the article mentions has me cocking an eyebrow. Although I own the software legit, hypothetically speaking, what is Adobe was to go out of business? (once again, hypothetically) You're screwed if you had to reinstall your software. Piracy will never be gone (since stuff is cracked like five minutes after it hits market), but there must be a better way to combat it.

If Illy had multi page capabilities, then there wouldn't be a need for InDesign.

Actually, there is a way to do multi page in Illustrator, or at least to fake it.

Oops, forgot to finish the How to part.

When you start a new file, just set the dimensions however big your pages would be. Say for example you need three pages (8.5x11). You woul set your new project size to 8.5 x 33. Then go to File>Print and under the Setup tab, change Tiling to 'Tile Full Pages'. Then click done. If you have view page tiling turned off, turn it on at View>Show Page Tiling. Voila! you will see three pages, with the tiled print borders on. Plus, there will be a page number (it won't print) at the bottom left of each page. The down side to this is that you can't do bleeds on at lease two sides.

Ergghh...the dongle, I wouldn't want one of those taking up my USB port all the time. On the other hand, (if they don't have it already) maybe they could do something where you'd just have to plug the dongle in once to 'activate' it whenever you reinstall. I could deal with that if it eliminated the online 'big brother' element. Of course, some people could pass the CD and dongle around to all their friends, but this problem would be significantly lesser than P2P distribution. Still, someone would probably find a way to flash a memory stick to copy the dongle.

dongle licensing software can be cracked as well, other than just a direct dongle connected to launch the software dongled licensing using software can be cracked nearly as easily as most general copy protections. I have a 4 port powered USB hub that i use for dongles, i prefer the LPT passthrough dongles as you can daisy chain those and still use a printer on the port.

I imagine there's all sorts of fan art out there in this style for inspiration. You already have the banner templates, so just find an interesting way of using them. It doesn't have to be overly complicated...

Good points, although I'm unsure how to correct this without starting it all over from scratch and scrapping the whole idea. I'll have to think about it.

Unfortunately I don't have access to any other programs, gah. Question about crop marks...are they necessary? This may sound like a silly question, but for the invitations, the design itself is very simple...
