Does anybody know if corel photopaint 12 supports .abr files (photoshop brushes)?
    thanks

Not directly. But if you save the ABR off as a TIFF say, you can then recreate it as a custom brush in PPaint.

Ah... so you don't have access to Photoshop. Hmmm... well here's a little utility (abrViewer) that will allow you to open and view the insides to an ABR file and from there, export each brush as a PNG:

Yeah, but not with newer ABR versions from CS and CS2. Or so I've heard.

                ???

Sorry, you lost me (a self-admitted idiot). How did I offend you with my words? I was just thinking aloud about what you were actually asking.

Actually, it brings up a good point. When you have a specific tech question like this, it always helps to put in the details of which programs you're using so we can try and find you the best solution.

I have a son who's almost 13. And he's far from an idiot.

On the other hand, I am very aware about just how quick many adults (and media) are at pointing out all the 'horrors' of today's teenagers, so I try to make it a point to praise and recognize all the great things teens bring to our lives, and the lives of our community. Like any identified social group, teens suffer from the reputation of their own extremists-- which realistically, and statistically, is much, much smaller than those who are a real boost to their community.

At least, that's the case in my town.

Oh, and Pomogranate, for the sake of your design skill development (if you're considering this as a possible career), you might want to think about creating/using your own brushes--once you get the hang of things.

Photopaint is a very powerful editor. If you're looking for an interesting site that covers a lot of its features, you might want to try:

                http://www.clicknlearn.com/Products/...aintseries.htm

(if you haven't already, I mean.)

And just to be sure to be a bossy adult: keep sketching! (and maybe post some doodles on that new thread)

                Cheers.

I actually ended up going with RichCopy. It's free, only overwrites files that have been changed since last backup (quicker backups,) and doesn't compress or pack the files. My brother who is an IT tech...

Actually, not so bad for a beginner. The thing is, it's not only a matter of doing it "correctly;" it's one of those things that simply takes practice. It's no different than when you were new...

                  I use Cobain Backup http://www.cobiansoft.com/index.htm

It's real easy to use and doesn't change your files in any way.

Aww, we had a bunny when I was a kid. I loved to trans it out by rubbing between its ears. We also had another rabbit. That rabbit was a bit more formidable. He chased horses....
