  • Printing Photoshop PSD Files 4UP - Help

    Greetings to All. Im sorry if this is not the correct forum for this particular post, but it seemed fit to me. This forum is new to me

    My problem is I made a ad style page in Photostop with text and a few pieces of clipart that I want to print 4up (4 times on one sheet so 2x2) So I bring my .psd file into Pagemaker and lay it out as needed, and print it.

    However, when I do so the printed results look so downsampled and "pixelated"

    My question is, what is the best way to print a .psd file made with Photoshop and get great results. I need a crisp clean finish.

            It seems you are mistaking resolution with page size.

            To find the resolution :Click Image/Image Size.
            In the Document Size area under Width & Height you will see Resolution.

              Since, you don't know your resolution thats most likly the promblem.

              Your image is in screen res. rather then print.... which is not a good thing.

                W: 2550 H: 3300 In Pixels
                -or-
                W: 8.5 H: 11

                So like I said, a standard letter size

                  NO not the image size the resolution.

                    as you can see i'm working on a rack card
                    4"x9" @ 300 DPI

                    if your resolution is to low you will have poor quality.
                    i'm guessing yours is set to 72.

                    are we right?

                      Oh, Im sorry... I thought everybody was talking about width and height.

                      But no, my resolution is at 300 just like in the picture above.

                        Did you enlarge the clip art? That stuff is raggy as it is. Make it larger and it gets really bad.

                        This also could be a Pagemaker thing. I didn't think Pagemaker could read .psd files?
                        Did you try the .eps? or maybe even a .tif?

                          Pagemaker cannot read PSD files. Save it as a TIF (better than EPS, particularly if the printer isn't postscript) and when you print, make sure the 'Send Image Data' in the Print menu is set to 'normal' NOT the default 'optimised subsampling'.
