  • CorelDraw 11 - exporting - no option for transparent background

    #1
I hope someone out there can help.
I'm trying to export an object in CorelDraw ... gif, jpg, png ... "transparent background" is greyed out and I don't know why. Does someone know where the setting for this is located. I've been able to do this before, so I know it's do-able, but I just can't find it right now.

    Thanks for your help.

      Hi

Are you exporting a vector object? If so, don't bother exporting it. Prepare an RGB file (you'll convert to 8bit later)of the dimensions you want in PhotoPaint. Select the object (or group) in Corel and Copy (Ctrl+C)...now switch to PhotoPaint...Paste in (Ctrl+V)...and voila - transparency is preserved. Now all you need to do is 'create mask from object', save to gif, yadda, yadda. Simple!

It's a drawing ... that I did in CorelDraw ... so it's definitely vector. I was always able to export with a transparent background but for some reason it stopped.

The company only has CorelDraw, no Photopaint.

        Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Don't they come as a package any more?

            Odd.

They should come as a package.

The other workaround then is to export (Selected only) to .eps. Then import that toPhotoshop (or whatever). That will preserve transparency.

Yes, I plan to have about 8-10 projects, many taking two pages (single side). the price break for the printer was at 25 sheets, so that's what I was going with. I haven't laid anything out yet as I've...

looks like the shapes could have been drawn with less points. and doing this in the beginning make the stroking afterward easier and also less points. the Obect > Path > Simplify is a good tool but you...

I thought I paid between $75 - $140 for my portfolio (PZ) alone. with the "plastic" sheets

And based on your numbers is that around 20-25 pages in your portfolio?
