I have an issue with a regular job, that has not cropped up previously.

I have a database of names/addresses. In this months data I have one column that, when the info is imported into the InDesign file, is only displaying the digits contained in that column as opposed to all the text.

eg: if the entry is '46 High Street', only the digits '46' appear.
if the column has no digits say - 'School House', the figure '0' appears.

The only thing I've spotted is that when I open the offending item (it is a text type) with 'Content Object' editor, in the drop down list it shows the following:

    '[#]Address'

all other columns in the database are preceded with '[T]'.

I wondered why this column, that in previous months data was preceded by [T], is now preceded with a [#], and if this is the cause of the problem, what I could do to change the [#] to a [T]?

Sounds like the hash stands for 'number' and the T for 'text', so I'd guess this is definately the problem. Can you look these up in the help menu?

        Cheers guys...

the hash symbol was an indicator of the problem. The data file is Excel.

It turns out that XMpie interprets the nature of the column data by assessing the first few characters present in the first field.

In previous sources of data the first field has always contained letter characters, and has been interpreted as text [T]. In this month's data the top 'address' entry just happened to start with a series of digits - XMPie then 'assumed' that the column was to be numerical data [#) - hence a complete misinterpretation.

Fixed by ensuring that the top entry was swapped with a text only address field!

Yum. I do love salmon sandwiches. The bakery near me do great smoked salmon bagels. It's not a bagel shop so they don't jack up the prices.

Today I had leftovers. Chorizo and...

It won't stay this way ... but, they have to get all the bugs worked out first and then we will worry about cosmetic issues

I would try to us the join feature on the pathfinder. The first icon. you might want to select all of one color and then use the pathfinder to get rid of some unnessary anchors. Good luck getting the...

Yes, I plan to have about 8-10 projects, many taking two pages (single side). the price break for the printer was at 25 sheets, so that's what I was going with. I haven't laid anything out yet as I've...
