You can create a background image and place it on your master slides, but I think text style and placement, plus color scheme, need to be designed within PPT. If you can, I'm unaware of it.
Thanks for the reply KitchWitch. I'll be creating a proposal for a logo update and one of the requirements that the client outlined is a Powerpoint template for the updated identity. I haven't had the opportunity until now to create such a file, I thought it would be wise to ask and find out what the size requirements are as well.
It's probably best to create the PowerPoint template in PowerPoint. Especially if the end user will be the client.
Even if InDesign had the capability, I doubt the client would have InDesign.
Adobe does make an alternative for PP called Presenter 8. From what I saw in the five seconds I glanced at it, it's compatible with PP, not sure though if it will export a PP file. Good luck.

Reason: Software suggestion.

That would certainly the way to go, but I don't own the Powerpoint software to create the file MichaelWied. I had hoped that I could do this with the programs that I have.
Can anyone supply a standard measurement for a Powerpoint Template.
(Width X Length)
I haven't heard of OpenOffice until you mentioned it. I do have Keynote, however, the clients demands are strictly for a PowerPoint Template, and I was hoping to create one with my Creative Suite programs.
I think I may have found a solution to my problem. In Keynote (an Apple product), if I go to FILE > EXPORT, I have six choices.... QUICKTIME, PPT, PDF, IMAGES, HTML, iPOD
If I save my work as PPT (Powerpoint) then I believe I solved it.
Thank you all, and I thought it would be best to share my discovery. I'll make a post and show a self educational sample of what I've come up with.
Yes, I can verify that saving as PPT in Keynote works seamlessly. I prefer the charting and graphing in Numbers instead of Excel, and import those to Keynote.
I have both Office 2010 and iWorks. I always work in iWorks and export to Office, at this point. I just prefer the way that Apple does things. But, you do have to be comfortable with whatever decision you make.
This is true Darkwolf, but I also look at what's required on projects and the demands of clients, as well as job requirements for future employers. I have Apple Works on my old PowerPC across the room, I imagine iWorks is an updated version of this.
Going to a Texas BBQ tonight. In the rain.
Gonna plow up the front yard tomorrow and plant something other than grass to totally horrify the neighbors. In the rain.

Have you tried a site like Zazzle? They have five kinds of paper. You can upload your design and have them printed. I know a few invitation vendors in the wedding industry that use Zazzle. I have no personal...
Well, InDesign can't think on its own, somehow knowing what text to format with a given character style; UNLESS it's always the same text, or there are certain recurring character pattern-hooks; in which...
