  • closing multiple folders by option-clicking arrow in OS X

    #1
    In earlier versions of the Mac OS we could option click the arrow next to a folder and all the folders inside that folder would close at one time, or open if they were closed.

    Is there any way to do this on OS X? I have Panther and it is extremely annoying to be clicking multiple folders closed all the time. I can't imagine why Apple would take away this feature.

    Anybody else have this problem? Thanks!

    Try using your F9 F10 F11 keys.

      I tried holding down each of those keys and clicking the arrow and nothing happened, then I tried each F key separately and that didn't work either.

      Could you clarify if these keys are supposed to close the folder just by clicking on them, or if they have to be clicked along with some other key etc...
      Thanks.

          control click over the folder and choose the option "enable folder actions" then the option click will work to open or close all folders

            Thanks for all the help. That seems to do the trick. Of course, it didn't work right away… not sure why, but after about 15 minutes, it now seems to work. Of course, OS X seems to do that in a lot of things, ex: change something and 30 seconds later the date changes, etc... or add 80 MB of something to a folder and then check the size and it shows the exact same size, or move something to a folder and it doesn't show up for 20 seconds, giving one time to have a small heart attack. :-}

            Anyway wow, I love these forums! I never knew how valuable they could be! Thanks everyone.
