I am trying to remember a machine when i was in college doing graphic design that using heat (i think) - it stuck colour to printed ink, you could buy these sheets of one colour and overlay it on your printed page and the colour would stick just to the black ink on that page, I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called and if these things are still in use today, they were brilliant for adding bright coloured text to dark papers even black.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for. Can't really tell from the brief description given.
I can't find it on the Avery sites so it may be discontinued.
