Cool Feedback on Business Card Design and Website Please. Thank you!

Greetings Graphic Design Forum,

I have been working the past few months on a new website to promote my current online business further and to work along-side it.

My business is made to provide low cost, unlimited, online backup (like Dropbox, but cheaper, more efficient and unlimited to store as much as you like!) to home users and students (students even get discounts I might add!) all over the world.

My current business Click Backup (http://www.clickbackup.co.uk) is primarily UK based due to the .co.uk but I have now finished designing the new business Backup Loft which is a .com

Could you please review my new website here: http://www.clickbackup.co.uk/bloft/index.html
* Please note this website is not yet live and currently is active upon my current business address as it is not ready to be launched.

*Advertising bit removed*

Also for Backup Loft I have created a business card design which I really do want comments and suggestions, or maybe you have a design of your own in mind which could help me out.

Please see links to the business card designs here -

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I very much look forward to your comments and suggestions. Thanks!

- Flack
p.s. I have my winter clothes on because its so cold in the UK, so I have enough layers for crits!

Welcome FlackUK!

We ask all new members to have a read through these important threads with our rules and FAQs!

Advertising/self-promotion is strictly prohibited, so I had to remove your link to the trial. Members are certainly able to give feedback on what you've posted, but free work requests of any kind are also not allowed here, so if you'd like to hire someone to work on your business cards, feel free to post an ad in our Classifieds section of the forum.

Did you design the website and/or business cards?

Hi Virgo Nightingale,

That's no problem about removing the link, I just wanted to be sure people understood what was/is happening. I appreciate you informing me.

Yes, I (myself) have designed both my business website and business cards.

Regards, Flack

One thing that I noticed right away is the use of the Universal Pictures logo on your business card. Do you have permission from them for use of their logo? If not, it may be taken as some sort of endorsement and they may not take kindly to that.

Hi Virgo,

Thanks for pointing that out. I will look into editing that both on website and business cards.

Thanks, Flack

Update

All,

I have revised the artwork upon the website banners, and changed the images on business card.

Please see website change here:
http://www.clickbackup.co.uk/bloft/features.html
I have changed it to a free movie background which is easily recognisable!

Please see updated back of Business card here:

Front of business card is unchanged.

I look forward to more comments.

Regards, Flack

I had a quick peek of your code and it's pretty intense. Did you use something like Dreamweaver to put it together?

You're using a lot of inline styles for everything, which will make it extremely difficult to update in future. You should be loading all your styles from an external stylesheet - this way you can make one update and it affects everything site-wide.

I noticed you're also doing something very strange with your logo on the site - for some reason every letter in your logo is part of an image map. Why have you done this?

Hi Paj,

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

The website was built using WebPlus x6, a website software program I have used for many years. I do not like the coding option which Dreamweaver provides, and have never gotten my head around Dreamweaver to be honest. As with the software I have/use it allows Master Pages which provide very quick updating of pages site-wide also.

I have just looked in to the logo on the website, you are right in the breakdown. I have no idea why this has happened but I will correct this later tonight. Thank you for spotting this for me!

Many Thanks, Flack

I looked at the business card but keep in mind Im still learning. The clouds look like bullets and it seems like a statement not bullet points on the front.

The back I think the right lines might look better not aligned on the same lines., so your eye isnt drawn across the card. Try lowering the info on the right. The pictures on the bottom may look akward and too small when printed.
