editable pdf's in acrobat

I watched a tutorial awhile back on creating editable pdf's in acrobat. But now i cant find the video to save my life.

basically what im trying to do is I have design my own invoice, and i wanted to make email versions of it. I want to be able to make it though to were i can edit it to send to the client, but then once received they cant touch anything except for the "sign" and "date" sections.

I guess this isn't too big of an issue considering i have a copy saved myself for proof of everything, but to avoid possible conflicts, i would like to try to create it to were certain areas are restricted to the client.

can anyone give me an idea how to go about doing this?

It's Sunday, the forum is slow on the weekends. I'm sure you'll get some feedback during the week.

If you look up building forms in Acrobat Professional in Youtube or just plain old Google, you should get many hits.

You just make 2 fields using the form wizard and those would be the only 2 options the client can edit. You can also choose to have those fields mandatory so that they must fill them out or they will get an error message.

i tried going that route, but then i cant edit the information to add in for the client as far as project and prices.

i thought there was a way to make certain areas restricted. ill have to go back to google and see if i cant find anything.

ok let me explain this a little more. i did what you suggested, but everything im coming up with is tutorials on how to create the documents when i already know how to do that.

I have the pdf created and turned into an editable document in acrobat.

what im wanting to do is basically make sections of the invoice untouchable by clients once they receive them. for example places where i have inserted the prices and such. all i want them to be able to do is sign and date the invoice save it, and email it back to me.

i know there is a way to do it, because i found a tutorial awhile back on how to do it, i just cant find that again, and cant remember the keywords i used to find it.

if anyone can give me some insight on this i would be much appreciated.

im failing where you need help. you have the doc setup to be editable, remove the fields you don't want edited and send it out.

is it possible to set it up where i can just go into a previously saved file (like a parent file) edit the fields and then send it out and they can only touch a certain part?

the only way i can think of doing what you all are suggesting is to have to create an editable document every time i send out an invoice.

the way im wanting to have it set up is to have a pre made document already created, that way all i do is open the file edit the info, save a copy, then email to the client.

like i said, being that i save a copy for myself i guess the way i do it now is no big deal, if any issues were to come up i have the file i can show to prove what was right or wrong.

when i create a editable form in Adobe Acrobat Pro, it gives you the option to lock fields from the properties (right click the field>properties> check locked.) simple as that.
