Additional Work On Catalog Design Question

Hi there,

I was wondering how to go about this, I have completed a 14 page school catalog design for my small business clients and they forgot to give me the curriculum information which adds about 10 more pages to the mix. How should I go about charging them or is this just an additional revision? Should I charge them?

Thanks

Welcome GreenRupee! We ask all new members to please have a read through these important threads with our rules and FAQs so they will have a better understanding of how this place runs.

First question... what does your contract say? Is this job being billed hourly or as a flat-rate project?

I would let them know if they wanted any more content/pages/work than was additionally discussed, then it's going to cost more. If you let it slide, they might see it as a sort of workaround in the future, if not for you- then some other poor designer. But I guess it depends on what your contract says, and how you're charging.

Red face ?

For now I do all my projects as flat-rate. I'm fairly new so I left a flat fee price in the contract, I left out additional notes. Also, the client I invoiced already sent check in the mail for first draft of catalog.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

If they've already approved the project and put a check in the mail, I would simply give them a whole new quote for adding the additional pages.

I second that. Ten more pages is NOT simply a revision. With the size of the catalog you've already done, that's almost like a whole new catalog.

Yes you should charge them. It's up to you whether to charge them a flat rate or hourly from this point. If you do not charge them, you lose for no reason except that the client were disorganized or changed their mind.
