Hello everyone,
My name is Steve Kapsinow. Some of you already know me from my previous stint here as editor of the graphics.com network (2004-2006). Now I am the product manager for a new WebMediaBrands service called Freelance Connect.
What is Freelance Connect?
http://freelanceconnect.com
Some of you may already be familiar with Internet.com Freelancer. Freelance Connect is very similar, except that it is geared towards creative and media professionals rather that programmers, developers, and coders.
The concept is simple. We wanted to create one freelance destination where potentially millions of readers and members across all WebMediaBrands communities and properties (GDF, graphics.com, AOTW/BOTW, mediabistro.com) can find and list freelance projects.
In fact, whenever a project is posted there, it will automatically appear in the classifieds section here as a new thread. One should be posted already.
We just launched the service this week, and the marketing team is currently working on promoting it to employers from across our communities.
I'm here to invite all of you who do freelance work to check us out. If you like what you see, I'd love to have you join and create a public profile to promote your services. So when employers start posting projects, you will be ready submit your proposal. Heck, if you are an employer looking for freelancers, I also invite you to post your project.
Once you find a project you like, you can submit a bid proposal for the employer to review. The employer will use a variety of criteria to select a freelancer: experience, portfolio, proposal price, time to complete project, location, etc.
We also offer a safe escrow service. Once the employer picks a freelancer, he must place the money in the escrow service so the freelancer knows the funds are there. We also have an pretty extensive billing/payment system to handle all the "paperwork" for you.
The service is free to join. It's also free to create your profile, submit bid proposals, and post projects. We only take a 9% fee from the freelancer when he/she is paid by the employer.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to post them in this thread or PM me through GDF PM.
Thanks for taking time to learn about Freelance Connect, and I look forward to seeing you over there!
-Steve
