HAHAHA That's funny. My wife and I had a very similar experience with one of her friends years ago. Her friend was singing that song and sang "one-winged" as well. We couldn't convince her that it was White winged until I went on the internet and printed off the lyrics for her.
She said "OHHHHH.... that makes more sense now! I thought the 'Ooo Oooo Oooo' part was because it was in pain!"

Finding the lyrics online doesn't necessarily mean you've found the right lyrics. It's usually just a matter of one word, but sometimes two words that may sound similar may have completely different meanings.

In the case of "white winged dove," I have the original vinyl LP with the lyrics on the album jacket.
