New to graphic design

I am starting college in one week and dont have an idea of what laptop I should purchase. I don't have alot of money to spend-around a $1000.00. So any suggestions would be apprecatied. Thanks Newbie

Yes they reccomend a mac book pro. They are a little out of my price range. I was wondering if there was a cheaper way through with a HP or Dell. Also I have a BestBuy card. So I was looking to get one there if possible.

Check out apple student discounts (educational discounts). If you have a student ID or a paid tuition stub, you can get some good deals out there. Don't pay full price - for anything.
You can get a 13" macbook pro for $1090 with a student discount. Not sure of the specs on that as far as video goes.

Welcome...

perhaps the school has a credit/monthly plan type of program too.
I might wait also as you could get a "x" and get to classes and they say, "buy this software..." and you find it isn't available for your computer.
