Changing colors of pattern textures in Illustrator

Hey there,

i'm using Illustrator CS3 to create some text for a tshirt. The tshirt is black and i'd like to use a pattern texture for the fill. i've currently got 'basic graphics_lines' selected. the texture i'm using is basic lines going horizontally down the text. the problem i have is that because the lines are black going onto a black background i can't see them. is there any way of changing the color of the lines?

Any help would be great

Thanks

Have you tried making the background 95% black for a slightly offset black color?

The black background is going to be the black of the tshirt the text is going to be on so not sure if that would work. ideally i'd like to be able to change the color of the lines.

Have you tried looking in the appearance palette to see if you can edit the stroke color there?

You could just create your own pattern.

Or you can yank the swatch of the supplied pattern onto the artboard, make your edits and then make a new swatch.

Nice one thanks for your help guys. Ive edited some of the swatches by pulling them into the artboard and i'm getting close to the kind of results i'm after.
