Around the office
So, what are some of the crazy things you do around the office? Pranks, inside jokes, or just plan ol' goofing around?
A few weeks ago I made up a fancy sign that says "Pre-Press Employee of the Week." with a spot for a photo to go under it. Funny thing is, I am the only person that works in the Pre-Press Department (apart from our on call free-lance guy).
So, for the first week, my picture was up there. Then I got bored with that and started putting random photos up. A picture of my stapler, a copy of Docket # 289923, etc, etc.
Currently, the employee of the week is a black and white photo of Tom Cruise from Top Gun!

hahaha. that's awesome
We can't get away with to much around here, but I do what I can in my little corner of the office. My desk faces the door, so I've made a face out of sticky notes that I have on the back of my monitor, staring out the door. I give it a new speech bubble every week. I've got sticky notes posted randomly around the office, on walls, windows, filing cabinets (mine and the other designer in the office). Gum containers with the labels ripped off and things like "Baby Teeth" and "Suicide Pills" written on them. I've Printed off the word FAIL and posted stuck it above our ad coordinators chair. I've taken a piece of paper and used a sharpie to write The Creative Department in really sloppy letters and taped it to our door. Then crossed out the word Creative.

I don't really have anything that interesting around my office... except for maybe my awesome limited edition TY Beanie Baby Unicorn that sits on my desk.
Now that is the da bomb! lol.
Bladez is more creative though... I know he has those big containers of gum that are empty that he makes into "things". Like Baby Teeth, Rat Poison and the like.

Real pranks are a firing offense but we have stuff from old projects all over the place all in various stages of adornment. Nothing that a client would take offense at though. Except for maybe someone moving a pile of mannequins into compromising poses....

Our office is pretty uptight. I have a calendar -with pictures- hanging on my cubicle wall and that's about the most rebellious/decorative thing I can do.
But, we do go crazy at Halloween! Everyone dresses up and we have a party.
(The truth: The VP provides a costume theme and sends a nasty email to our boss if we don't follow the theme, and the party is actually a potluck in the conference room with awkward conversation and a banner that says "Happy Halloween". Scenes straight from The Office.)

As the "Public Face of the University" we can't get up to too many shenanigans. The closest thing we have is our gold star that is actually just roughly cut out of posterboard and colored with highlighter. It gets stuck to the nameplates on our office doors and is awarded to someone making an outstanding contribution for the week. Our measurement of outstanding is pretty informal though and can be as simple as having brought in donuts.

I think garricks contribution to his office about a year and a half ago is one of my favs of all time:

And yeah, I left it that way for Monday, too...
