Remember when? (Old Fogey Thread)

Ahh dahlin. City kids worked too. Meet the bus at 7am, get out of school at 2:30pm take a bus and the T to work get there by 3:30pm, work till 7, get home by 8. Gotta do homework and someone ate your dinner because there's 7 kids in your family.

Are we related Designia? A certain sibling of mine would wolf down their dinner and mine before I got to the damn table.

We used to play in the woods, there were these old abandoned stone walls from settler times that we could walk along like paths... swinging on vines over the stream, eating wild strawberries, climbing rocks. Making animals out of bits of bark.. mud pies.
Climbing onto Ms Murrah's roof (when I was 3) and hanging out. Kickball in the back yard, running with the kids on the street after school.
We were never inside, our parents never knew what we were doing, (or so we thought) we'd just show up for dinner.
It was a very different world wasn't it?
... pure magic.
And I'm glad I got to live it, instead of what American kids do nowadays.
