I prefer this new L. I think there is a tendency to make many characters too decorative.

This alphabet will be stronger if there are only a few flambouyant letters. I would keep the E as plain jane as possible since it is used the most. It's the defining, unusual letters that will jump out and give the set more personality. But you don't want it jumping out at you at every letter.

I see what you mean. I'm thinking the E will look like the new L. I don't want it to be flamboyant either. I'm hoping the cuts in the letters don't convey that. Im hoping they do make everything cohesive.

I recommend posting your design in Typophile, as it is a forum for, and populated by professional type designers. They can give you incredible advice (not that you aren't getting good input here, but Typophile is like type boot camp).

What kind of pen are you using in your video?

Hey just a question, anyone here make typefaces? I'd like more direction in that field.
I've made my own typeface before. I was just getting to tell you it's looking good. Go with everyone's advice and accentuate the cut out lines in the stems. Other than Limelight is a real nice Art Deco styled, geometric font, but where else are you drawing inspiration from? What's your intended purpose or is it just to practice?

If you're looking for a good software to produce your font in, take a look at Glyphs in Apple's app store. They have a full version for $300 and a mini version for $45. It'll take Illustrator vectors if you work in that first and has some really cool features and there's a few tutorial vids to help you get started.
