My kids pay for a locker but don't actually get a locker. I challenged the locker fee last year and got nowhere. I told them I'd pay the fee when they showed me the locker. I eventually got a bill that said I had to pay the $10 locker fee or my son couldn't graduate! They're making $25000/year on lockers that don't exist!

I still love new school supplies! There's nothing like a freshly sharpened pencil and a new notebook! I used to like the kind that had a raised picture on them that you could make a rubbing of when bored in class.

^That's bullshit. How do they justify charging a locker fee when there are no lockers?

That's a bunch of crap. If they want $10 so badly they should come up with a more plausible sounding fee or lump it into something else you already pay.

Call your Attorney General, that's complete bullshit to threaten not to graduate a student over $10.

I think they just cycle complaining parents on through until they're down to a choice of $10 or your kid graduating!

Back when I was giving attention to this, this is what I came up with. I imagine the locker fee started when there were lockers, maybe in the 70's. Then I bet they meant to used that money on something else while the lockers deteriorated. I imagine the locker fee increased to make up for this, but not in time. Then I imagine the lockers had to be removed but there were no funds to replace them because this is Louisiana so the education money got squandered. What should have become the "locker fund" remained the locker fee. No telling where the money goes. I did complain but a parent complaining about a $10 locker fee is something our school board will never get to!

We used to have to bring a dollar before they'd give you the padlock for your locker. These lockers were tangible objects that actually existed on this astral plane though. What does your kid do with the stuff he/she isn't using at the moment?

They had big heavy book sacks! My kids have never had a locker. I don't know if any schools in our district have them, actually. They didn't have them in junior high either.
