How can I get a truly flattened document from InDesign??

I am designing a catalog/tri-fold brochure in InDesign and dont want the file size too big as i am sending it to the printer via skype. I dont want to package it or have any links; no editing...i want it 100% flattened... the same way you can flatten all layers in photoshop.

Thank you Q

Well, you could send them a print-ready PDF … but there's no good way to "flatten" an InDesign file. You could embed all the links and convert the fonts to outlines … but that will make your file size larger in some cases and the print vendor will most likely have a harder time dealing with the file.

I recommend using a PDF.

I've never heard of transferring files via Skype. I use yousendit.com, you can send pretty large files that way

thanks craig b i guess ill just go with the pdf export route... designia yea our printer in china prefers it this way...Why? I have now idea! but ive been doing it for a couple years now but they are usually single files ranging form 1-50 MB in size. on skype there is a plus button next to the call button...click it and you get a scroll down: send files, send contact, share screen or add people

Send a PDF/X:1a compliant pdf, it flattens transparencies.probably what they are after.
