If you aren't a designer, you may want to hire one. A non-designer who says they design as a hobby usually is playing around in Photoshop. Not the program you want to be using when making a logo.
As for ideas, most here are professionals and get paid for their ideas.
No one is going to design your logo for you for free.

Hi Eagleone, you could create a logo from your band's acronym or try to create a logo with a guitar and your band's acronym.
