I just bought a D5100, still learning my way around it. I bought it primarily for video. Here she is -

- $600 for the body, shotgun mic, and the stabilizer rig. My wife is a professional photographer, she shoots Nikon so she set me up with a few hand me down lenses.

Digging it so far!

Smu, that was the camera that I'd officially put on my Christmas list, with a note that a roughly equivalent camera would be fine.

I've only taken a couple test photos with the Rebel, still learning all the features and inner workings. Never owned a DSLR before. The test shots do look nice though.

Awesome, yeah - I noticed you wrote about the 5100 earlier in the thread so I figured I'd post up with mine!

I definitely considered Canon but it just made more sense for me to go Nikon, since my wife already has so much Nikon gear.

Enjoy your new camera!

I absolutely will!

I've had a Nikon point n shoot for 4 years. Love it for what is, and have taken plenty of great shots with it, but a point n shoot is still a point n shoot. Looking forward to the possibilities that await me.
